Since I bought my Nine West Ealene boots a year ago in Melbourne, I haven't been able to find boots I like as much.
I love how much more comfortable they are than they look. I normally need elastic gores to accommodate my chunky calves, and the ones on these are elegantly hidden. My feet are wide in front too, and it's really quite amazing that they fit so nicely in the boots without feeling squashed or cramped up. And how about those heels? High, yet easy to walk in without looking clunky.
So perfect I got a second pair in black, and gave in recently to the temptation to stockpile more. 6pm.com had them heavily discounted, so I got another pair in dark brown:
and since there's an almost identical design (heels are different), I got that in this lovely "cognac" brown as well:
It cost me a small fortune to vPost the two pairs of boots over. That cancelled my savings out somewhat, but seeing as I'm still paying less than retail, I don't mind that much.
Death to pointy boots!
More MAAD finds today:
Make Your Head
ivbelongings
Fuchsia Lane
Leather Prince
But I didn't buy anything :)
Shoes from shopping on Friday and Saturday:
About 60% off from Isetan.
From Novo. Tried them today and not only did they keep slipping off, I got blisters! I think it needs footpetals and/or real socks. Sigh.
Ugh. They need to stop with the shoe sales. Or I need to stop coming out of the Taka lift lobby on the side of the shoe department after yoga.
I've been on the lookout for flat loafers, but it's hard to find something with a square toe that won't slip off my feet when I walk. I also wanted practical colours, like black or brown. I've been eyeing this pair since my last yoga class. Good thing I didn't buy it then, cos now there's a National Day offer going on for JWest at Taka: 42% off the first 42 pairs sold everyday. Pretty good deal!
I can also get a $10 voucher if I spend $100 at Taka and pay with one of their cards, so I decided to get something inexpensive to top it up. It's taken me awhile, but I finally realised that the Andinc label from URS is only available at department stores and not URS boutiques. The designs are actually quite nice, maybe more attractive than the regular line's. This design also comes in black, but it's a nice shade of tan, and I've got enough black shoes for now.
After shoe shopping, I went for my virgin IPL hair removal session at the clinic recommended by JusChev. Nice staff, but OMG! It was PAINFUL. It didn't stay sore for long afterwards, but still, the thought of dunno how many more sessions of this down the road makes me shudder.
Yep, the sale is still on. I must have tried on at least half a dozen pairs, and almost every pair was comfy for my feet. Amazing. In the end I did the practical thing and bought the 2 that were the most comfy and available in black. I wear black shoes more often than any other colour (I'm boring that way).
My first pair of wedges. For some reason I've always found them hard to walk with, and avoided them for this reason. This pair was okay though. As a bonus, I've also finally found slingbacks that don't irritate the hell out of me. I avoid slingbacks for the same reason I avoid court shoes - my heels don't stick out enough to keep the back of the shoes on when I walk.
1. They were the only shoes I liked at the nué sale that were also comfortable.
2. They were 80% off (RRP $150, now $30 each pair).
I actually liked the grey better than the black, but M reminded me that grey would get dirty far too easily.
While taking these pictures, I discovered that hidden in the faux fur is a ring of diamantés, identical to the one on the ankle strap.
Thanks go to JusChev for alerting me to the sale!
I gave up on 3 pairs of shoes this month and tossed them out. This meant that I can't exactly be as frugal as I want to be, especially not with all the shoe sales around!
To date (and I honestly hope there is no more temptation), I've bought 4 pairs of heels and a pair of flip-flops. Coincidentally, everything at 20% off.
Top 2 pairs (bronze and brown) are from Nine West, black pair is from J West, flip-flops from Grendene Ipanema (Novo).
I also got this pair from Novo, by Nina, not a house brand as the silly SA insists, but a US brand. It's decorated with black crystals and beads, a bit fancy for everyday wear perhaps, but it was so comfy I couldn't resist. I looked at their other styles, all of which was too high and wedding/prom-ish. Prices are a little lower than Nine West (but not as low as Novo/J West, I think), and I hope the quality is as good.
I've come to the conclusion that while I like brands like J West, Novo, Andre Valentino, in quality they really can't compare to the pricier Nine West. I usually stop wearing my Nine West because it's too worn out to be seen in public, not because it's falling apart, like the other brands. I'm over-generalising here; what I'm trying to say is that Nine West does have a more consistent level of quality. They make great boots too.
I've also given up on wearing heels everyday. Sometimes I just wear my flat Elle loafers to work. I tried on 2 pretty pairs of ballerina slippers while at Novo, but I don't think they're for me. Even when my heels don't slip out as I walk, the front of the shoe is just too narrow for my wide feet. The Elle has held up for almost 2 years, which is pretty good, especially since I was wearing it almost every other day in Melbourne. I really want a pair of nice heeled loafers, but all the ones I've seen in Singapore are just too low or plain ugly. Also, many of them has a toe that's too round for comfort.
Speaking of shoes, my cheapie shoe brand fave is URS, and I've been eyeing this pair of orange/gold fabric sandals since before the sale. Will I succumb??
What is your fave shoe brand?
